January has zipped by and we’ve all set our intentions for the year. We are all eating better, exercising more, polishing up that creative project, and keeping our houses spotless. What? That doesn’t sound anything like you and you haven’t even set your intentions for the year yet? Well, don’t fret because you aren’t alone. And the good thing is, right now is the perfect time to get started.
Sure, the “magical” first day of the year has come and gone, but what’s to say that this day, TODAY, can’t be just as, if not more so, magical. I’ve got good news for you — it can be.
Change can be difficult, even scary. It’s so easy to go back to the old ways that make you feel comfortable and safe. That’s simply a belief that creates a behavior and that belief can be changed.
It’s important to set yourself up for success in goal and intention setting for the year (or month, or week). Ask yourself “What rings true for me?” Lean into the authenticity and you’ll be able to move forward. It’s the spark that’s important. Do you feel it igniting? That’s perfect, now explore that and when you do, call me and I’ll help you navigate the proverbial rough waters that keep you coming back to what’s easy and safe.
Why does the change feel so difficult?
Ask yourself is it something you really want to change, or is it something you feel you should change. There’s a big distinction in those. Let me explain.
You see, when you feel like you should do something, there’s an actual pain that springs up. It doesn’t ignite the creative spark but instead douses it entirely. This causes you to believe that change is hard and makes you want to retreat. When this happens, it’s best to reframe and see the situation from a different perspective. For example, “I should lose weight” can be changed to “I want to be strong, healthy, and live a long life.” See how that changes the whole feel of the intention? There is no motivation in the should’s so let’s remove those for good. Instead, find what’s juicy and move forward. It’s as simple as taking one step a day. No need to pressure yourself into moving mountains as significant change can start small to make big movement.
So where you can you start today? What’s ONE thing you can do to move forward in your life? Now go do that. If you need some help, please feel free to call on me and I’ll be by your side 100% of the way. No matter where you live, I can create a solution to be your best self. The time is now.
